Milpitas New Elementary School

Winner of a 2015 Concept Design Award from the Association for Learning Environments!

BASE is collaborating with the architects at Gould Evans to create fun, flexible, and collaborative learning spaces for a new elementary school in Milpitas.

This unique new K-6 facility will feature open learning communities which foster more personalized and project based learning. These communities will blend indoor and outdoor, allowing curriculum to extend beyond the walls of a typical classroom and into the landscape. The site will also incorporate wild play areas and nature paths.

A portion of the new development will also be designated for joint-use with the City. The planned adjacent park will blend with the school property so that together they can create areas for students during school hours and community members to use after school hours and on weekends.

Check out some of Gould Evans’ thoughts about the future of education and what we can do to establish a new model for educational spaces.
